On the 28th of February 2018, Auroville turned 50 years of age. This anniversary was celebrated by giving a twist to the yearly morning meditation: this year, it included a water ceremony. Water from all over the world was collected and brought together in a basin. It echoed the inauguration of Auroville in 1968, when soil from 124 countries and 23 states of India was brought together in the urn at the centre of the Amphitheatre.
