Spirulina, the popular Superfood, is a great addition to a nutrition-rich smoothie or juice. While it is well known to support your internal health, spirulina also holds anti-inflammatory and anti-aging benefits when applied topically on skin and hair. The level of antioxidants found in this quaint seaweed is four times the amount found in most berries! Spirulina contains almost every known antioxidant–Vitamin C, E, B1, B5 and B6, zinc, manganese, copper, beta-carotene… and the list goes on. These vitamins and minerals help fight free radicals, eliminate toxins from the skin and increase the skin’s ability to regenerate. That way, Spirulina helps to improve skin tone and complexion, leaving you with a beautiful glow.

If you’ve got a little more time on your hands, and would like a mask that suits everyone, this one’s for you!
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon Spirulina Powder
- 1 tablespoon Raw Honey ( Raw Honey has most of its nutrients intact)
Honey is antiseptic, and anti-fungal, and is known to soothe the skin and help reduce inflammation.
Cleanse your face well before applying the mask. Mix the two ingredients until you have a smooth paste.
Apply with fingertips on the face and neck. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and wash off gently with lukewarm to warm water. Moisturize with a hydrating serum or face cream after.
3. Supercharged Mask
For those who would like to dedicate a good amount of time to self-care and pampering your skin, this mask is looking at you!
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of Spirulina (Make sure to buy from an organic brand, such as Aurospirul)
- 1 tablespoon of Coconut Yoghurt or Greek Yoghurt (Curd will also do)
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- The juice of ¼ of a lemon
Yoghurt has lactic acid which helps fade blemishes, and lemon is the Vitamin C source that brightens skin and promotes skin cell regeneration.
Place all the ingredients into a bowl and stir them together to form a smooth mix. Rub the mask over your face. Leave it on for about an hour to dry and harden, and gently wash it off with lukewarm water.
